All Species Parade

from Earth Day in Your School and Community © 1993 published by Heartland All Species Project, Kansas City, MO USA

You should be well on your way to putting on an all-school All Species parade. The students have their masks. Some have developed flags or banners for the Creature Congress, representing their species or some other theme. Some displays may be adapted to make floats using wagons and carts. Review the following illustrations with your Earth Day committee. Create a few new pieces to fill out the parade.

Walk the parade route well in advance, before you send out your publicity. Make sure the parades are safe from automobile traffic. A sidewalk parade usually requires no permit and no police involvement. Secure as many adult monitors as safety requires. Watch out for overhead obstructions. Have fun.
