Worm Tilling and Fertilization Test - February 2007

Above you can see 4X4 foot beds with a four gallon bucket in the center of each bed. The bottom has been removed so the worms will have access from below. The far bucket has a layer of sand covered by leaves. The near bucket has a layer of coffee grounds covered by leaves.

The test here is to see if noticable differences can be seen in identicle crops planted in both beds. We think that worms will come to feed on the coffee grounds and will till and fertilize the soil making the plants in the bed with the coffee grounds healthier than the plants in the bed with the sand, which is used as a control.
