Cob Shed Progress & Needs 11/5/03

Needs: Small wood stove, 1/2 inch water pipe and wonder board for raised beds.

Straw bales were salvaged from the Missouri River Clean-Up and serve as our scaffold before being used as mulch and compost bin walls. Cement mixer, at left, is on loan from Pendragon Stables, picked up within 24 hours of our email request. The bump on the back wall is at the right height. The front wall must go 30 inches above the door frame. We are expecting frost tonight. If the wet cob (dark layer at top) freezes the water will expand and can crumble the cob. We will have to keep it from freezing. The blue tarp, seen at sides, covers the shed and that will help. Rockhurst PeaceJamb volunteers are expected Saturday. Volunteers please call.
