Hi Scott,

Read your request on the email, and share many of your concerns. I am currently designing a recycling bin to meet your specific needs. i have developed an intial prototype and i am looking to develop one or two more before it get manufactured.

It meets most of your requirementrs, in that it is stackable, modular ( you can keep adding one unit after another)Plastic ( possibly part-recycled itself) and somewhat pleasing on the eye. It uses plastic bags or carrier bags - which is commonly handed out in UK grocery stores.

Would like your opinion on a few things if you dont mind to help me launch the product and understand requirements and demands. Let me know your views on the following points if you have a few moments :

1)Do people have easy access to standard plastic carrier bags in the US as we do here in the UK? do these get handed out at your local grocery stores?

2) Is the domestic recycling community / ethos big in the US and in LA? What percentage of people you know, would you say, recycle at home ?

3) What types of things do you recycle from Home?

4) What colour should a recycling bin be? should it have a unique colour or should it aim to blend into trhe colour scheme or decor of your home/ kitchen?

would be grateful for this and any other feedback you could possibly give.
Thanks, Asif

I'm looking for an indoor recycling bin to set in my kitchen, but can't find anything that meets my requirements (stylish, stackable, and affordable). I just recycled a three-bin combo (in cream) that I'd bought at a Lowe's (home improvement store) and have been using for a couple of years because the weight of the recyclables cracked the plastic beyond repair, but now I'm without any options. I live in a small L.A. apartment and don't have the room for anything too large. Can anyone point me to an on-line store or a retail store anywhere? Thanks!
